MonaLisa Touch Q & A
Who is a candidate for MonaLisa Touch?
MonaLisa Touch is designed for women with specific menopausal gynecological concerns. These include:
- Vaginal dryness, burning, and itching
- Painful intercourse
- Mild stress urinary incontinence
These symptoms often occur because of hormonal changes and alterations in vaginal tissue that are typical results of aging.
How does MonaLisa Touch work?
The energy produced by MonaLisa Touch stimulates your tissue to build new collagen, a tissue-strengthening compound. As you get older, your natural production of collagen reduces, leading to laxer, thinner, and dryer tissue.
With MonaLisa Touch, your production of collagen is boosted to reinvigorate the walls of your vagina, making them stronger, moister, and more resilient.
What should I expect during a session of MonaLisa Touch?
During treatment, Dr. Powell will insert a sterile vaginal probe into your vagina. The probe delivers the gentle laser energy that stimulates a healing response in the tissue. The entire procedure takes about five minutes.
Does MonaLisa Touch hurt?
MonaLisa Touch procedures are well-tolerated by most women. You may feel some tingling and warmth, but the short procedure doesn’t cause pain. MonaLisa Touch is noninvasive and requires no anesthesia.
Does MonaLisa Touch have any side effects?
MonaLisa Touch is an outpatient procedure, meaning you go home the same day. You may experience minor side effects such as redness or swelling at the treated tissue, but this disappears within a day or two.
How much downtime will I need following a MonaLisa Touch session?
Following MonaLisa Touch treatments, you can go right back to all your daily activities. It requires no downtime. The providers at Comprehensive Women’s Health do request you refrain from sexual intercourse or putting anything in your vagina for three days following treatment.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of treatments you need depends on the severity of your symptoms. Women typically receive between one and three treatments, scheduled 40-60 days apart. An annual maintenance treatment after these initial sessions is also recommended. The providers at Comprehensive Women’s Health put together a comprehensive plan for you to help you meet your vaginal wellness goals.
